FAQ
Why the name "Strut, USA"?
We wanted a name that could involve everyone. Whether a dancer, twirler, singer, musician, etc. I also did NOT want an ego trip for me. EX: "Miss Lynn's School of Something". Not that this is BAD, just not my style. I found a definition that made me know that "Strut" was the correct choice: Strut, vb - To walk or parade with a show of pride, to assume an air of dignity or importance. We teach that one should always hold their head up and be proud of what they do.
Is this just another dance school?
Absolutely not! We offer instruction in baton twirling, tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, clogging, voice, musical theatre and half time performers. We order our shoes, tights and leotards to custom fit our students. Also, we do choreography for school dancelines, majorette groups, cheerleaders and colorguards. We choreograph for beauty pageant and theatre productions. We work one on one with individuals doing pageants and modeling. We have sessions in specialty dances like Ballroom and Swing. You can find just about anything you're looking for at Strut, USA.
Do you require your students to compete?
No. We support each student for doing what they are happy doing. We do however, encourage each student to fulfill their individual potential. We offer every opportunity to help them excel if they wish to compete or perform. We feel that healthy competition helps build self confidence, poise and sportsmanship. It helps prepare for situations in later life.
Do you offer any private lessons?
Yes. However, not every student will benefit from private lessons. We consider what the student wishes to achieve and the difficulty level they are on. Also, some students just seem to do better one on one but others flourish in a class or team situation.
Is Strut, USA co-owned or in association with any other studio or gym?
Most definately NOT!! Strut, USA was formed and created in 1986 by Lynn B. Schmitz. It has NEVER at any time been associated or co-owned by another studio or gym.
Aren't there 'hidden' costs with dance studios???
At Strut, USA, you are given a list of all 'possible' extra charges that could incur. These include sweatshirts for parades during the holiday season, costumes, ads for our program books and picture packages. These are ALL optional, not required.
How do we know that the instructors are professional??
We will always be glad to share ALL credentials of our staff members. Every instructor or assistant has studied for 10 years or longer and has worked their way up. Please check out our Staff Page.
